A Victim Treats His Mugger Right

I recently have subscribed to the Desiring God blog. We really enjoy the practical application of God's truth found daily on this site from John Piper, his wife Noel, his son Abraham and others. This entry caught my eye:
Julio Diaz has a daily routine. Every night, the 31-year-old social worker ends his hour-long subway commute to the Bronx one stop early, just so he can eat at his favorite diner.

But one night last month, as Diaz stepped off the No. 6 train and onto a nearly empty platform, his evening took an unexpected turn.

He was walking toward the stairs when a teenage boy approached and pulled out a knife. You can read the rest of the story.

Denny and I have been visiting churches, reading books and reflecting a lot on our mission in this second half of our lives. This modern day Good Samaritan story reminded me of Brian's (our son) recent series on Missional Living, which we have listened to on our Ipods. In our daily living and in our travels, we are meeting new people as well as continuing to spend time in a deeper, more meaningful way with people we have known for years.

Proof That Denny is Losing It!

We decided this week to have a yard sale to get rid of some stuff.

Still Going to Alaska!

Someone asked us today if we were still going to Alaska (considering the price of diesel fuel, I guess...) This sign was posted just outside of Quartzite, AZ, where we stopped to fill up before hitting the high priced California gas. When we got to Valencia, CA, the best we could do was $3.99 a gallon, so $100 for 25 gallons! Right after we bought that gas, the price went to $4.09 at that station and $4.15 at another.

Too Old to Work?

I was walking around Travel Village and saw this on the back of an R.V. I WANT THIS SIGN!

Keep Track of Baby Daligou

Lilypie Expecting a baby Ticker

My friend asked me how far along Carrie was...... and I had lost track, but it reminded me of a funny story. When I found out I was pregnant the first time, I immediately told my mother. At church the next Sunday, she told my friend, Avonne. Avonne asked, Oh! When is she due? And my mother said, "I don't know, I guess in 10 months!"

Well, so I don't need to trust my memory, you can track Carrie and Dali's baby here .
